The Mapfre Aspar team reveal Moto2 RSV bike

Today in Madrid, Jorge Aspar Martinez officially launched his Moto2 team that he will try to win the first ever 600cc world championship with. Riders Mike Di Meglio and Julito Simon were both present with Aspar as they pulled back the covers on the Italian made RSV chassis the duo will use in the 2010 Moto2 season after the shock withdraw of long term partner Aprilia. Once again, Spanish insurance giant Mapfre will be the title sponsor of the team. Monster Energy announced as title sponsor of French Grand Prix

Monster Energy drink continues to make their appearance felt within the MotoGP paddock. They will now be the title sponsor of the French Grand Prix for the 2010 and 2011 seasons. The California based company with the now legendary lime green ‘M” will also be present on trackside banners around the Bugatti Circuit at the famous Le Mans Circuit. Continuing their expansion outside of the United States, the energy drink company continues to try to obtain some of Red Bull’s market share and is doing so through various motorsport sponsorships.

The past couple days have seen us reflect on another 125cc test in Spain. Once again, there was not a lot to report on as the weather played havoc to all three days, like it did in Valencia and to a host of private testing throughout the winter. The second of three days of official 125cc ended today in Cheste. Testing has been very hit or miss this offseason in Spain, but luckily today the weather held off so the teams and riders could get some productive work in. There were two sessions held today and with track conditions being a little warmer in the morning, most riders completed more mileage in the first session. Pol Espargaro dominates first day of 125cc testing

The 125cc riders joined the Moto2 paddock for their official test today in Valencia. On a blustery Spanish day, Pol Espargaro led the way as he circulated the Ricardo Tormo Circuit over one second faster than his nearest rival, Marc Marquez. This is an immense gap in the 125 class and is quicker than Julian Simon’s pole time from last season. 125cc test takes shape for next week

After the MotoGP testing season got underway last week in Sepang, it is almost time for the lower cylinder classes to have their first group test of 2010. The Circuit de Catalunya in Montmelo, Spain will host a three day test session for the 125cc and Moto2 teams next week, February 17-19. Bainet Derbi rider Pol Espargaro was present at a ski and snowboard event in the Swiss Alps, along with ex-Formula 1 drivers Jacques Villeneuve and Patrick Tambay. In between runs on his snowboard down the slopes, the Spaniard gave an interview to Spanish website MotoCuatro.
