Mapfre Aspar quit RSV and will field Suter prototypes immediately
May 11th
Jorge Aspar Martinez has taken the dramatic decision to scrap his Moto2 project with the Italian chassis supplier RSV, switching instead to the Swiss made Suter MMX. It is an immediate decision and the two Suter prototype 600’s are in transit from Switzerland to Spain as of this moment. Taking advantage of the two weekend break between Jerez and Le Mans, the Spanish team hopes be prepared to run the new Suter chassis in France, with Friday practice beginning May 21. Martinez’ choice to ditch the RSV chassis for the Suter is no doubt quite costly, as he has to More >
Almost time…
Feb 16th
After a long wait, tomorrow the world receives the first dose of Moto2. The much hyped 250cc replacement class will be in action for a two day test at the Circuit de Catalunya. An estimated 26 of the 40 600cc prototype riders will be circulating the track in Montmelo, Spain. Rain is expected the next few days in Spain, but hopefully the riders will be able to get some dry track time so we know more of what to expect from the new class. Check MotoGPNewsBlog tomorrow for insight into all the action from Montmelo.

Happy 31 to 46
Feb 16th
February 16 is the great man’s birthday. Valentino turns 31 today, the third oldest rider on the grid behind only Colin Edwards (35) and Loris Capirossi (36). There is no doubt Rossi and his Italian buddies are out having a good time, enjoying a few cold ones like anyone would do on their birthday. One would imagine much of the talk will be about ‘Giorgio’ and his injured hand. Rossi would never wish harm on a fellow competitor, but as a fierce competitor, deep inside his head there will be the thought he has gained an upper hand before the More >
Ezpeleta: “40 Moto2 machines is too many”

Scott Redding's Moto2 machine (Marc VDS Racing-Suter MMX2)
Moto2 has too many competitors this year; that is the fear of MotoGP chief, Carmelo Ezpeleta . He thinks that there needs to be more MotoGP bikes, around 22 and less Moto2 machines. 35 bikes was the number that the Spaniard was hoping for, in what promises to be an exciting first ever 600cc prototype season, but instead there are 40 entries, without including wildcards at each race. There is more possibility for teams to be competitive in the series while spending a great deal less than what it cost to run a More >
The first injury of 2010
Feb 12th
No, it is not Dani Pedrosa! It seems every season there is a rider who injures himself before the season even begins, this year that honor goes to Jorge Lorenzo. The FIAT Yamaha rider was motocross training with his friend Ricky Cardus and the Checa brothers, Carlos and Davide; when he lost control at only 19mph/30kph and crashed onto his hand. Lorenzo, known for his massive accidents – China 2008, Montmelo 2008, Laguna Seca 2008 and 2009 –has suffered a hand injury that will have him out six weeks for the smallest crash probably in his career. This means that the 22 More >

Singapore at night
The Formula 1 race held on the island city-state of Singapore has quickly become one of the highlights of the F1 season. In just two years, the race has firmly put itself on the map as one of the premier sporting events in the world. The grand prix is held under the lights around the Marina Bay street circuit, making it the only full night race of the Formula 1 calendar (Abu Dhabi is considered a day to night race). MotoGP set the standard for world championship night racing, as it hosted the first race in the dark More >
